Bathurst 1982 - Lack of Safety
Просмотров 94Месяц назад
Track safety during the 1982 Bathurst 1000 wasn't exactly steller - marshals on the track sweeping, a rescue truck and marshals on the racing line. Things have come a long way.
Alain Prost Pole Lap at Donington Park

The 1993 Williams was a beast in qualifying. Prost goes out and does a 1.10.8 then a 1.10.4 which would give him pole for the race. Everyone knows what happened the next day.
Ukyo Katayama Silverstone 1994 Onboard Lap

A very hard to find video of Ukyo Katayama at Silverstone in 1994. The circuit was butchered in the Imola frenzy. Stowe was turned from a 150mph sweep to a 90 degree disaster in just 4 years. The complex was also akin to a street circuit.

Long Beach is such a fun little track. Lots of corners packed into a lap time of 68 seconds. It's always a blast in the IndyCar IR18.

The Dallara IR01 is one of iRacing's best cars, when you can keep it on the track. I managed a 61 second lap at Laguna Seca, very fast!! Heaps of torque too.

Fastest qualfying lap out of anyone at this track. A quick little track, over 115 mph average. A very neat and tidy lap especially in the chicane.

An incredible track that should be on the F1 calendar.
Wow, having only ridden the new layout, I must this this nothern part looks much more fun.
Wow
I remember back in 500cc era seeing cows grazing the northern loop... lol
Damon Hill is the Arrows garage must have smirked a little.
Grooved tyres....
Shame that the track graphic gets in the way of the view. Should be in a corner.
Was his lid design inspried by the Warner Brothers logo?
The mutilation of Assen can't be forgiven. The northern loop was one of the spectacular & challenging parts of the track.
Assen today is crap and the worst part is that they still call it the "Cathedral"
Wenn der beste Fahrer der Welt im besten Auto sitzt, dann kommt sowas heraus. Der 2004er Ferrari war ein Wunderauto.
The only issue with this is that its impossible to know what the previous record time would have been if the driver drove This ferrari.
The pure extreme high scream of the V10 pumping around 20000 rpm is just not matched anywhere. So pure and my god its could give me goosebumps all over my body when we visited tracks
2004th like ;)
JV🙌🏾🙌🏾
How they udersteer and how much power to put in without hitting wall is masterclass!
When the world met the F2004...this is a historical moment. Michael basically gave everyone a trailer for that season: enjoy fighting for 2nd , 1st place is already mine.
Great sharing
Astonishing lap. The legendary speed.
They ruined the Sport with Greed, like every other Sport.
And 20 years later Alonso is still a F1 driver. 😀
Forza Ferrari
How much williams would fall in results few yr.s later!
without Newey they have been irrelevant for 25 years apart from 2003 and 2014
Senna still beat him 5 times!
Prost unlucky in Brazil and Monaco. Should have been only three wins for Senna. Anyway Prost was champion...
Brazil - wet Donington - wet Monaco - Prost penalty (which was terrible) Japan - championship over Adelaide - championship over How Senna the last 2 is extraordinary in itself. His greatest season.
This was probably the last race for a ferrari with a round steering wheel
You might be right actually, good observation.
F1 achived this footage quality in the mid 2000s lol. Thanks for sharing, great stuff
This is the kind of domination we want. The red car's. Not that of a factory that sells piss in a can.
I still belive this is the fastest ever F1 car. Put a pair a slicks on it and it would break most, if not all track records
Those were the days when F1 still deserved to be called the premier class.
Good old times.🎉
talent wise this man is the goat in F1. There was no better driver in bad conditions, he surely was the most skilled driver ever. Hamilton and Senna close, but not exactly on schumi level. On a rainy day he'd smoke each and any of them
MSC had a great feeling for knowing the exact grip a given track condition will produce and driving exactly to those conditions. Hamilton is the same. Senna is pretty close. Verstappen is nowhere near, he just has a massive car advantage.
Thanks everyone for watching, this video seems to be taking off. For those who are unaware of how incredible this piece of driving is, this is Michael's first flying lap of the session, he only did one installation lap and a slow sighting lap beforehand. He had never driven the F2004 at Albert Park prior to this, so had to know how the car would handle. He also hadn't driven the track for a year and there are always small changes year on year. He basically went out with no practice on a green track and beat a lap record that was set on lap 32 of the race on a rubbered in track and with hours of practice and setup work. This is one of those rare moments in F1 that we won't see the likes of again.
the GOAT
Man and machine working together
One interesting fact was, the then Michelin chief Pierre Dupasquier once said to a news outlet, after this lap, he closed his textbook at track and went for a beer. Because he knew, that this season was also over. I never forget this. Basically this lap destroyed everyone those days... Now 20 yars older, I recgnize how bad this was for the sport because it was boring thus then as a Ferrari fan I found it funny.
¿Why he didn't do any practice session?
Anthony, thank you. Seeing -2.639 sec is already incredible but you sharing the background behind the deed... wunderbar
I'd rather look this video 20 times in a row, then look a current F1 race.
Mischael, du bist der Größte im Motorspocht!
Beautiful and exciting cars
But now there is longer.
So, as soon as he discovered his brakes were gone he immediately swerved right to wipe out in the sand? That's some professional driving right there.
well he's brakes werent 'gone' a brake disc failed suddenly on one corner which spun him around immediately
@@1greenMitsi ahhh, gotcha
he didn`t even had the 2004 er ferrari at this point in time just an upgraded version of the 2003er ferrari. remmber first race of the year. the f 2004 was ready in the 5 race of the year.
The F2003 and F2005 were not ready in time. This is the F2004.
GOAT ❤
Legend has it that he lost it
I can't understand why the camera was showing Jean Todt and Ross Brawn (at 0:21 to 0:47) instead of Michael. For the people behind the screens it wasn't interesting what these guy in the pit line do, we've wanted to see Michael on the track. But it was typical for Premiere (or DF1)...
And then it tipped it down the following day and Senna schooled everyone.
That lap, that sound and car are just racing poetry.
❤ MSC ❤
"Track record : M. Schumacher (2004)" a classic
Could the RB 20 rival the F2004 (the 37th car in the F1 history of Ferrari) in terms of dominace? -0.760 in first sector on prime Fernando Alonso from Michael. Remember this was the driver and the car that could do four stop strategy and still achieve a victory over Renault (French GP July of 2004). Five red lights on the 2nd of March 2024. Twenty years later - the energy drink manufacture seems to have a build another iron boot. If the first test day is more than an indicator than the other 9 teams should be afraid (ashamed of themselves?!🤷🏻♂️).
This was devastating. I remember being so hyped up for this season after the close 2003 title fight, the aggressive new car designs from Williams and McLaren, and the strong form BAR and my boy JB had shown in testing. All hope shattered and destroyed in one single lap.
Some terminology: A lap record can only be set (and therefore broken) during the race. That´s why a few years back FIA renamed it race lap record so people do not confuse lap record with track record.
I believe that this car, with modern technology and on modern tyres, would still be faster than the f1 cars nowadays
Well it wouldn´t be that car anymore. With modern tech and tires. So I am confused what you mean? The chassis?
@@thomasoring Minor upgrades to its components to make it more reliable and faster. Other than that, I don't believe the tires making the car any different
They (Mick Schumacher) tested it with Pirelli tires, few years back. He was about the Haas time, first round, he tried. That car is 20 years old and could still qualify for modern F1 grid. The F2004 was and still is a beast.
@@thomasnieswandt8805 Yes, I believe it would perform better than the modern cars with only minor changes. Ralf Schumacher had a very competitive time in Austria as well when he drove his BMW in a show run
alsonso drove his 2005er championship car in 2020 and was even faster then the actual f1 cars, and on top he just was cruising around not pushing it too the limit, just having fun with the old car on track.
